Manager of Operations Excellence


Job Summary

The outline of these duties has some specific requirements. Assists management in the execution of engineering and operational excellence activities within the plant. Works closely with production, maintenance, and quality personnel to evaluate and improve processes. Ensures the effective use of materials, equipment, and employees throughout the plant in producing quality products in a most cost efficient manner. Backup for Maintenance Manager.


Job Requirements

  • High School and 4 years of working experience in quality related position
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, as well as other basic computer functions
  • Phone experience and vendor relations experience
  • Excellent reasoning ability and mathematical skills necessary for regulatory compliance
  • Advanced experience and working skills in PLC’s
  • Human Resource and confidentiality is required and violation is subject to dismissal
  • Excellent reasoning ability and math skills necessary for regulatory compliance
  • Good understanding of and skilled in statistical analysis
  • Must be willing to accept training and/or education required to ensure Apace complies with pharmaceutical industry standards and regulations

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop thorough understanding of operation of all equipment
  • Help develop, implement, and oversee programs for continuous improvement and enhancement of quality to all corporate processes including flow of material, production, warehousing, and documentation
  • Work with Director of Engineering and Operations Excellence to identify equipment that is not functioning at peak performance
  • Work with all departments to improve existing processes by identifying areas of waste and using 80-20 principles to focus on activities that consume the majority of our resources
  • Utilize statistical analytical tools tool monitor productivity and efficiencies
  • Work with other departmental managers to develop realistic metrics to be used to set goals and monitor effectiveness and efficiency of various processes

  • Oversee and maintain computerized equipment system backup (system recovery) program
  • Help develop and maintain production equipment network connectivity
  • Communicate with and assist outside OEM technicians to resolve machine malfunctions, faults, and errors
  • Assist in ensuring SOP’s are current and adequate, and assist in updating SOP’s as necessary
  • Assist in advancing Apace’s electronic communication and filing initiatives
  • Be personally involved in implementation of process improvements related to production equipment
  • Ensure all process improvements are captured appropriately through Apace change control process
  • Work directly with Validation Specialist to develop and execute validation and qualification protocols
  • Work with Maintenance Manager ensuring all PM’s are performed thoroughly and completely and documentation is complete on timely basis
  • Work directly with maintenance staff to ensure all equipment is properly maintained and performs at peak productivity
  • Train others on process improvement implementation
